Kate's MRI
We received the best Christmas present today when we learned that Kate's MRI was clear. We are rejoicing and oh so very grateful for this amazing grace gift from God. Thank you so much for interceding on our behalf. In answer to the prayers of family and friends, God so lovingly and graciously enveloped us in His peace. While Kate was in the MRI I re-read some portions of my favorite devotional book God Calling by A.J. Russell. This devotional is written as though God is speaking directly to the reader. One passage in particular stood out boldly to me today...
I am here. Fear not. Can you really trust Me?
I am a God of Power as well as a Man of Love, so human, yet so divine.
Just trust. I cannot, and I will not fail you. All is well.
Courage. Many are praying for you both.
As I read this passage I could not help but say thank you Lord - what perfectly timed words of assurance and a vivid reminder of the many prayers being offered up on our behalf.
Kate has been experiencing pain in the upper thigh of her right leg for about a month now. Given that leg pain was the symptom that led to the diagnosis of her cancer reoccurrence in 2006, you can imagine that there was a certain degree of concern and anxiety for today's MRI results. The MRI was long as usual and we did not leave Magee Hospital until 11:45. (Our appointment with Kate's neuro oncologist was at 11:00). Thus, when we finally got to Children's about 12:15 they told us to grab some lunch and Dr. Jakacki would see us at 1:15 when she returned from Tumor Board which meets every Monday from 12:00- 1:00. This was perfect timing as they would be able to review Kate's scan together. However, much to our disappointment and Dr. Jakacki's frustration when she came in to see Kate at 1:45, the scan had still not been sent from the other hospital to be read by the radiologist at Children's. Kate had her neuro exam and we discussed the pain in her right leg extensively and still no MRI results. Dr. Jakacki is a pretty feisty for her petite blonde stature and she left the exam room determined to get the MRI report. Not surprisingly she came back with the news we were all praying for... the MRI was clear! Given the leg pain is not tumor based, we will begin addressing the pain with Kate begin PT tomorrow and also see a chiropractor.
As we enter this week of Christmas our hearts are rejoicing that we are loved by a God who was and is and always will be faithful. Like the virgin, Mary our souls magnify the Lord for He has done great things!
Amazed by grace,
Elaine
